Aero Antiques, Durley (near
Southampton) |
A very interesting visit to workshop of Ron Souch, who is world famous for his restoration of the De Havilland
Moth family of aircraft, to view the current work in progress. Some
folks combined this an afternoon to the
nearby Solent Sky museum.

Army Air Corps Middle Wallop
A
comprehensive afternoon tour of the Army Air Corps base at Middle
Wallop, including visits to the Gazelle, Lynx and Apache hangars
as well as time on the Apache dispersal for photographs. Also seen
were the AAC Historic Flight and gate guards. The excellent
Museum of Army Flying is also located here and some chose to
arrive early and include this in a great down out compliments of
our great hosts the Army Air Corps.

Toulouse - 2010 (Visit No 2)
PLEASE NOTE -
This was was NOT an MKAS visit but a privately organised visit, open to
everyone including MKAS members Another great day trip out, flying on
easyJet from Gatwick to Toulouse-Blagnac airport, with a visit to our
friends at the
excellent
Ailes Anciennes museum at their new
temporary home on the south side of the airport, followed by a look around the various Airbus ramps before going on the
afternoon A380 Production site
visit, then a pizza and a drink before heading home.. |

Martin-Baker
A long awaited and much anticipated
return visit to the Martin-Baker headquarters at Denham. The home
of the world’s longest established and most experienced manufacturer of
ejection seats. Don’t miss this!

Cotswold Airport
An excellent visit to the former Kemble airfield for a guided tour
of the superb Bristol Aero Collection and Bristol Britannia XM496, both now
resident at Kemble. Also an opportunity to see what airliners are ready
to go to that airfield in the sky.

British Airways Maintenance
Centre & GE Engine facility, Cardiff
A very
interesting visit
to the large maintenance base at Cardiff, where Boeing 747, 767 and 777
aircraft are maintained. Use was made of the self-service canteen for
lunch, and in the afternoon, we visited General Electric’s engine overhaul
facility at nearby Blackwood. An excellent day out and many thanks to all
the teams at BAMC and GEAS for a great visit and their superb hospitality.

Pathfinder Museum
A visit to the interesting Pathfinder museum
at RAF Wyton, which commemorates the Pathfinder Force whose Squadrons were
tasked with leading the main bomber forces to accurately designate enemy
targets. This museum is not normally open to the public, so a
wonderful
opportunity to visit this hidden treasure.!

RAF Northolt Families Day
MKAS were privileged to have been invited to the Families Day at
RAF Northolt. The day included a static display of visiting aircraft,
a short flying display, hangar displays, marching band, refreshments and
side stalls. Another excellent day out.

RAF Coningsby Enthusiasts Day
A rare opportunity to visit RAF Coningsby, photograph the
static aircraft (including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) and talk to the aircrew.
Photography of aircraft movements on the day was excellent, and there
was a variety of aircraft present to keep everyone happy.

Another great day out, flying on
easyJet from Gatwick to Toulouse-Blagnac airport, with a visit to the

afternoon's 14:30 A380 Production site
visit, followed by a pizza and a drink before heading home.
Thoroughly enjoyed by the 10 people who took part.

Marshall Aerospace
A rare opportunity for a guided tour of the engineering
workshops of the Marshall Group of Companies at Cambridge Airport,
consisting of Marshall Aerospace and Marshall Land Systems, and
thoroughly enjoyed by the 35 MKAS members who were afforded superb
hospitality. Thanks to all the team at the Marshall Group for an
excellent visit.
