RAF Valley
The last opportunity to visit the home of 4 Flying
Training School who provide fast jet training on Hawks for the RAF’s
future combat pilots. A superb visit and very much enjoyed by all those who
attended.

RAF Shawbury
RAF Shawbury hosted the
aircraft involved in the Liverpool Navy 100 flypast and gave enthusiasts the chance to get up close to aircraft including
Merlin, Sea King, Lynx, Firefly, Chipmunk, Tutor, Swordfish, Jetstream
and Squirrel.
All proceeds from this event were donated to the Station Charity for
2009 - Help for Heroes.

Toulouse, France The first MKAS visit
abroad - A great day out, flying on easyJet from Gatwick to Toulouse-Blagnac
airport, with a visit to the excellent
Ailes Anciennes museum followed by a look around the various Airbus
ramps before going on the afternoon A380
Production site visit, followed by a pizza and a drink before
heading home. Thoroughly enjoyed by the 15 people who went and part of
our on-going twice a year visits to Toulouse. |

Rolls Royce Heritage Collection
A rare opportunity to visit this unique collection of
aero engines, one of the finest in the world. A joint visit with the
LAA East Midlands Strut (with many thanks to Stewart Jackson).

Croydon Airport
A visit to to the Croydon Airport Visitor Centre,
which is housed in Airport
House, the former 1928 terminal building, and celebrates civil aviation
at Croydon from 1920 – 1959.

Military Intelligence Museum, Chicksands
A return visit by popular demand, to the
Military Intelligence Museum, with a guided tour of the Intelligence
Corps museum; the Medmenham collection of air photography; the USAF at
Chicksands and Y Service rooms which together form the Military
Intelligence museum at Chicksands. Another eexcellent visit, much enjoyed
by all who attended. |

Battle of Britain Heritage Walk and Cabinet War Rooms
An informal stroll through Central London on a beautiful
sunny day, to visit the sites on the Battle of Britain Heritage walk and
after a leisurely lunch there was an optional visit to the Cabinet War
Rooms and Churchill museum. |

North Weald Airfield
Another return visit by popular demand, to enjoy an accompanied tour of North Weald
airfield. We started with a briefing over tea and bacon sandwiches,
then embarked on an airside tour of the revetments and hangars,
finishing in the airfield museum. Many Thanks once again to our friend
Nigel Kemp for his help in organising this visit.

RAF Shawbury
Another return visit to see all the stored aircraft at
RAF Shawbury, and to watch the Griffin and Squirrels of the Defence
Helicopter Flying School at dispersal, along with the newly based
Augusta A109s.

An excellent visit around this west London base,
with visits to the hangars and close-up and inside views of the various 32
Squadron aircraft present. Thanks to our generous hosts, another great visit much enjoyed by
the 25 MKAS members. |
